Re: International Rescue...
Dogs are domesticated animals. They should be set free from being part of the cuisine. They are best as pets and not as part of our daily meal.

Re: International Rescue...
Oh well, people have different cultures and that every one must respect each other. If it's their culture then let them have it.

I agree. If that's their culture, we cannot question them

Re: International Rescue...
I have been to the Philippines and I learned that not the majority of the people, but there is only a small group that do this. Those are tribes from the northern provinces and some people who descended from those tribes. Most Christianised Filipinos who have gone a long way on the awareness of taking care of dogs and other pets no longer do this.

Re: International Rescue...
Hey guys! why are you all pointing the blame to us (Filipinos), we are not the only Asian country who does this, a lot of Asian countries also eats dog meat, like in China, Indonesia, Taiwan and Vietnam, even in well developed countries like France, Germany, Mexico, Canada and even in the US, I'd like to make a point to all those who are degrading our culture, me too, I am against eating dog meat but why don't we just shut the hell up and respect the tradition. I just want to clear that every time the topic of dog meat is being opened are you always thinking of us? (Filipinos) and it is not the Filipinos who started this culture, Westerners are the ones who commenced this event. specifically the Native Americans. why don't you try to go to other Asian or Western countries and see for yourself. I apologize for whatever inappropriate words that I said, but its just not right to put the sole condemnation to the Filipinos, NEXT TIME BEFORE YOU POST DO SOME RESEARCH FIRST!!!!!!

Re: International Rescue...
however, there are laws in the Philippines that prohibits dog killing, as well as eating dog meat.
Republic Act 8485 (Philippine Animal Welfare Act) prohibits dogs to be killed, while the Metro Manila Commission Ordinance 82-05, specifically prohibits the KILLING and SELLING of dogs for food. I wonder if we can feel these laws. The government should start making an act to prevent another "Asocena" (spelling check in Wikipedia.org) being served in alcohol/beer drinkers.

Re: International Rescue...
its all about the tradition, I agree on what livelybuz, kimby2 and zandruay said, It's all about that damn stupid respect, I mean, dogs are like gross to eat because we cannot accept the fact that its our best friend, all of a sudden becomes our table feast. But can we just leave it there, its their tradition, or maybe, just maybe, they felt like that dogs are the solution to their hungry stomachs. I'm not questioning that, well, just imagine this, if ever you are the lone human being living in this world, and the only way to survive is to eat dog's meat? do you have any choice?

Re: International Rescue...
In some parts of the world, specifically, with lower temperature, they eat dogs to help their body maintain its normal temperature. They used to neutralize the body heat.
