If by punish you meant removed from the situation then yes.
If you mean yell at, or hit - then NEVER.A stern "no" is all that is needed for Bonu - he's a fairly submissive dog as it is - I think if anyone had him and yelled at him or was physical (not even touching just over bearing) he'd be a wreck.
