Re: Leash Training
Start with a two feet in length for a small pup. The rope must not be heavy enough and he would be able to play with it and not long enough to hurt or strangle him. Try walking him in few distances. Wwhen you know he is ignoring it, then replace with the leash.

Re: Leash Training
If your puppy struggles to free from the leash, you can call your puppy’s attention by his name. You can also take up the slack in leash. Keep reeling in the leash when your puppy comes towards you.

Re: Leash Training
Training the puppy to get used with leash must be short and positive but must be fun so your puppy retains it. You can do it several times a day, 5 minutes at a time for dogs have short attention spans.

Re: Leash Training
At first, getting the dog for a leash is not easy A dog is not born or really used with something on his neck. But he needs to get used to get leashed for reasons of discipline and dog’s welfare.

Re: Leash Training
Its nice to have a dog follow you around but its better with a leash in case your dog wanders off after seeing other dogs. You may not know his behavior but introducing him to leash is a good idea to restrain him and for his safety.

Re: Leash Training
Some puppy will instead pull the leash. You can act like a tree to your puppy by becoming an immovable object. Start with a nylon bucket collar with this and a six foot leash.
