Re: Dog's tear stains
Some people use Teramyacin on their dog for removing tear stains. I wouldn’t do that unless you have been specifically advised by your veterinarian. You must have the proper instructions to administer this to your dog.

Re: Dog's tear stains
I was told tear staining is caused by excessive tearing. If the area around your dog’s eyes always stays moist due to excessive tearing, red yeast bacteria might develop and cause the staining. Excessive tearing may be caused by several factors, including diet, fleas, bacterial infection, ear infections, etc.

Re: Dog's tear stains
Yah! Well you have to seek professional help first for your dog from a veterinarian before administering any medication.
In the meantime, keep the dog’s eye area wiped clean daily to help prevent staining. Also, a professional dog groomer can shave the area to prevent excessive red yeast bacteria build-up.

Re: Dog's tear stains
Distilled water applied around the eye area to clean it works wonders. I use it for my dog and never had a problem since.
