Transgendering the dogs...    Sometimes, I put on different attire on my puddle just so it would look unique each time I walk it down. He's a male but I would put on ribbons or pretty bonnets on her head.

I wonder if the dogs themselves recognizes sex by the way they look. Do they get turned off with looks?

Of course they do recognize genders. Thats why they also have this sexual life and they also have courtship stage or if they liked a certain dog, they also flirt no matter what breed.
